connect to & use GroupSpace

Most of the features of GroupSpace are pretty straightforward - big desks, dedicated space, and a whiteboard (if you're in Meyer Library). So let's move on to the real deal - the TeamSpot software.

The first thing you want to do is download the PC client or the Mac Client. If you like just diving in, consider looking at the Quickstart guide for Windows or Mac. For more information:

Downloading the client

Actually getting the client is pretty easy. Just click here and you'll see this screen:

Click on the download button, then the appropriate button for Mac or Windows. Installation instructions are available from the same page but basically you just double-click and you're set. Onto connecting...

Connecting to TeamSpot for the First Time

After you've installed the client, it's easy to add and join a spot. First, launch the application.

Enter a name in the "This Machine" field that is specific to your machine. Try something like "Allan's Machine" rather than "road-gumby."

Simply click the "New TeamSpot" button on the control panel.

And enter the following information for your desired spot:

Meyer Lobby TeamSpot: MeyerTeamSpot.stanford.edu

Toyon TeamSpot: ToyonTeamSpot.stanford.edu

Schiff/FroSoCo TeamSpot: FroSoCoTeamSpot.stanford.edu

Click OK to download the configuration file. Your client will attempt to automatically connect, and the spot will now show up in your drop-down list of locations.

You should see an authentication code appear on the shared display. Enter it in the box on your laptop and you're good to go.
